Private Lessons
Baseball and Softball Hitting, Pitching, Fielding, Catching & Defense We offer private, one-on-one, lessons with a variety of experienced baseball and softball professionals. Many have coached at the college level or played professionaly. All of our instructors have been certified by our director and meet the criteria for teaching the latest techniques for hitting, fielding, and catching as well as proper pitching and throwing mechanics.
Instructors include ... Tommy Everidge
Tommy has been our lead instructor at Athletic Edge for more than 5 years. After many years of perseverance in the minor leagues, Everidge broke into the big leagues on July 28, 2009, with the Oakland Athletics. He was the RBI and home run leader for the A's organization in 2007 and brings with him, not only current teaching techniques, but an ability to connect and communicate with the people he is coaching.
Louis Ott Lou has been part of Athletic Edge for over 10 years. He began his baseball career playing Little League and Fall Ball for Athletic Edge and graduated to a successful professional career with the minor league Detroit Tigers and most recently the Florida Marlins.
Dolf Hes Dolf has coached baseball at Sonoma State for 6 years. He played his collegiate baseball at Long Beach State, where he pitched in 1978 and 1979. At the conclusion of his playing career, he signed a professional contract with the San Francisco Giants.
From 1983-88, Hes coached at Long Beach State under coaches John Gonzalves and Dave Snow. He was a member of the 1987 Long Beach State College World Series team.
Hes was the head coach at Fullerton High School from 1989-95, where he won championships in four of his seven seasons at the helm. From 1995-2003, he served under Dick Dietz, Kevin Mitchell, and Jeff Leonard with the Sonoma County Crushers of the Western Baseball League. He was an integral part of their 1998 WBL Championship team and he coached former San Francisco Giants reliever Chad Zerbe.
Derek Bell  Derek Bell has been part of the baseball coaching staff at Sonoma State for 12 years. He has been a part of six championship teams at SSU- two as a player and four as a coach.
Sonoma State’s all-time leader in many offensive categories including hits, doubles, home runs, runs scored, runs batted in, and slugging percentage, Bell capped off a brilliant career by being named CCAA Player of the Year, West Region Player of the Year, and First Team All-American in 2000.
In 2000, Bell went on to represent Sonoma State in a national home run hitting contest at the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Following that season, he signed a professional contract with the San Francisco Giants. After playing several seasons in the Giants organization, Bell wrapped up his professional career with the Amarillo Dillas of the Central League in 2003.
In 2007, Bell was inducted into the SSU Athletics Hall of Fame.
Trisha McCormick
Athletic Edge is happy to welcome Trisha McCormick as the latest addition to our staff of instructors. She is the assistant softball coach at Sonoma State University. Trisha has been the assistant coach at Whittier College and also head coached her Teamsmith 10-U Travel Team to a 2nd place finish at the Triple Crown World Series in Utah.
As a student-athlete, Trisha spent four years at the University of La Verne in La Verne, California and earned All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors.
